Discussion on buying FM-200 gas, and Halon 1310
Many older existing Halon 1301 systems are still viable systems
in need of either recharging or expansion. Currently no regulation
in the US precludes the installation, recharging or expansion of
these systems. Recharging or expanding these systems may prove difficult
due to a lack of parts. In some cases cylinders need to be replaced
especially in offshore installations where equipment is subjected
to harsh environments.
There have been customer who have expanding their existing Halon
1301 systems. At Advantage we have the necessary software to do
hydraulic calculations on most US manufacturers Halon 1301
systems.
Recent projects include:
Expansion of an Kidde 3rd generation Halon 1301 system in
an existing 55,000 cubic foot computer room to an additional 50,000
cubic feet in Houston Texas.
Replacing four (4) Chemetron 70 lb Halon 1301 cylinders in
an offshore installation off the coast of West Africa due to cylinder
corrosion.
Expansion of an existing Kidde 1st generation Halon 1301
system in an existing computer room sub-floor, Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia.
Filling Station UL Listed FM-200 Fill station for
Kidde.
The current challenge is finding the equipment to modify the systems.
Below is an outline of various manufacturers of Halon 1301 systems
and the viability of parts:
